When You Pray, it is Always the Lord’s Prayer
…but the prayer easily becomes old hat and dry…?
It is easy for the Lord’s Prayer to turn into something we just rattle off… because we have known it since childhood! But do we even think about what it says…???
I actually find it refreshing to read it in the “New Living Translation” of the Bible…
If we start with Matthew 6 verses 7-8, Jesus states precisely that we should NOT rattle off the same thing over and over:
“And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.”
I don’t believe the Lord’s Prayer should just be reeled off, but rather that it demonstrates the 7 elements our prayer can/should include…
Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us today the food we need,
and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.And don’t let us yield to temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one.“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
…and not only that – REMEMBER the gift of tongues in prayer. This is very IMPORTANT… Speaking in tongues is for your personal development – it is YOUR spirit interceding for the things your soul doesn’t realize you should pray for.
