How are you living as a spouse?
…do you further your partner? Or your own needs?
How are you living as a spouse in your marriage?
Is it all about getting your way?…so your own opinions can ‘win’?
Do you see it as a defeat if you don’t get your way? Imagine if you had to admit that you may be wrong about some things… humiliating… right?
In far too many marriages two individuals get together – and as soon as the emotional ecstasy subsides, it’s all about getting your way – raising the kids YOUR way.
Did you know that if you know Jesus and want to live with Him, then you will do everything you can for your spouse to succeed? You will not be focused on getting your way, but rather on being together. You will not sulk, but rather you will be grateful.
Make space…. And remember that YOUR opinions about child-rearing and other general things are not necessarily better than those of the other person.
Remember that the words ‘sorry’ and ‘thank you’ are liberating. It is NOT a defeat to admit to your faults and express your gratitude…. But it is a defeat if you don’t learn from your mistakes and blame the other person.
Carry each other…! Drop your selfishness and let the heart of Jesus saturate your mind. Humble yourself sincerely, and let God carry you and raise you up.
