When You Take Something Out of the Bible…!
…just some thoughts about the great commission from the Gospel of Mark!
Thought-provoking….!!! Not theological, and nothing but just a thought…!
…but did you know that there are 678 verses in the Gospel of Mark?
Some critics believe that verses 9-20 in the 16th chapter of the Gospel of Mark are “fake”. And for that very reason, the critics don’t believe that we today need to:
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
BUT…!! If you were to remove the 12 verses in question, you’d end up with 666 verses in the gospel, which is the “number of the beast / antichrist”…. So, it’s probably safe to say that God left a “hidden message” in the text about how we shouldn’t go around removing things from the Bible.
